DANCE OF BIRDS

It’s raining without a break transforming everything to appear fresh and soft. After an angry summer, the sweet drops of water has created magic, giving a healthy greenness to bushes and trees on either side of the highway I’m driving along on this Sunday.

It’s the excitement of good weather lead to the bird sanctuary the fifth visit this year. It’s a forty-five minutes’ drive, soft melodies urging me to pump the accelerator more than which I never hailed myself to exceed; however, a lovely ride all the way.

As I turn toward the village ‘Uppalapadu,’ I could see the birds in the sky circling. I entered the sanctuary; it’s a huge cluster of bushy trees the home for hundreds of dancing winged souls, circled by an equally large body of water – a frolicking space for white, long sharp beak pelicans, storks, and darters.

Hours just flew by as I enjoyed hundreds of birds soaring across the sky and swooping down spreading their wings milling noisily around the roost.  I did my job to catch them with the camera: the birds showing off their colors, feathers, bonhomie, and tricks in the air.

(Uppalapadu is in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh in India.)
